Nespresso at the Houzz of 2018

Houzz, the number one online destination for sharing home design ideas and expertise, brought to life the Houzz of 2018, a concept ‘pop-up’ house with five stories of immersive and interactive design. Working with Nespresso, Hayford & Rhodes breathed organic life into the fifth-floor café, celebrating the Nespresso Limited Edition range, the Origins of Coffee.

Using the tropical, equatorial roots (literally!) of coffee as our inspiration, we created an inside living wall of over 210 different plants to bring an earthy, natural feel to the space, and to reflect the botanical origins of the plant.

Our inspiration was to bring the lushness of the jungle inside, creating depth, texture and a sense of adventure to the Nespresso cafe. We also wanted it to be a space where guests could relax and unwind.

We brought in some of our favourite tropical plants, such as Silvery Ann (Scindapsus Pictus), an evergreen climber. Begonia Rex in Red Tango and Evening Glow brought colour and depth to the greenery, with heart-shaped, ruby red, dark plum and silvery pink leaves with an irresistible, iridescent and silky texture. Our planted wall, measuring a mighty 3m x 2m, took three of our expert floral designers a total of five hours to build.

London Fashion Week

For the 2017 London Fashion Week’s Official Live Partner, Yahoo Style, our floral design team made a gorgeously floral and high-fashion ombre, flower wall at the contemporary arts house, Somerset House.

Taking inspiration from the 2017 Pantone colour of the year, Greenery, the bespoke-built, free-standing flower wall featured delicious, densely-packed candy pink, sugary purple and marshmallow white Dahlia, Hydrangea, Clematis and Scabius mixed in with Ferns, Salal and Ivy foliage for texture and depth.

Two Temple Place

To a hidden gem at the heart of the City of London for this unique event, Two Temple Place.
Private dining for 40, skilfully organised by Polar Black Events and expertly catered for by Urban Caprice

Our inspiration for the event was to add to the existing richness of the interior of the venue, with dark pink and purple Hydrangeas, Phalaenopsis Orchids, Succulents, Anemones and Roses.

Small gold vases each filled with flowers ran along mantelpieces, with a 44-foot tablescape cascading to the floor along the dining table.

The Banqueting House

The Leading Hotels of the World were hosting the most fabulous dinner party at one of the Historic Royal Palaces most prestigious venues the Banqueting House and we were honoured to be asked to style the event with flowers.

Masses of seasonal beech formed height and drama punctuating the table with almost tree like status. Jewelled tones of reds, purples and pinks adorned the dining table in the form of the most opulent displays of Roses, Dahlias and Clematis.

Dining under the iconic ‘Ruben’s Roof’, originally built for the performance of ‘masques’ demanded a theatrical, vibrant display of flowers and H&R events certainly enjoyed rising to the challenge! How could we not be inspired by not only the magnificent ceiling but the sheer beauty of the historical architecture.

Captured by the fabulous Holly Clark Photography we simply couldn’t choose a favourite feature. The scale of the tablescape offset by the incredible interior of the Banqueting House made for one of our favourite events of the year!

A Summer Showcase

A summer showcase at Merchant Taylor’s Halls - a beautiful livery hall hidden behind the Bank of England. The party included drinks in the courtyard garden followed by a formal reception in the Drawing Room.

We chose the very finest seasonal flowers in an array of bright candy colours including hydrangeas, roses, scabious, spray roses, black berries, alliums, nigella and phlox.

The Dining Room has the most beautiful wallpaper we’ve ever seen and inspired the key colours in our floral decoration. Strong sugar-candy pastel colours and equally vibrant vases were the order of the day and worked brilliantly in the courtyard garden and in the Drawing Room.

The table centres created by Fiona were unbelievably beautiful and we loved the quirky look created by the fluorescent pastel bud vases.

1920s Glamour

An intimate members party for twenty-four guests, including drinks and canapés in The Gallery followed by an evening meal in The Boardroom. Our client wanted to create a dream-like décor with a subtle 1920’s feel.

To contrast with the pale green walls we opted for Coral Peonies, Miss Piggy Roses, Sweet Avalanche Roses, Peach Avalanche Roses, Muscari, Sweet Peas, Viburnum, Larkspur and Hydrangea. The table flowers were arranged in low vases to allow for easy conversation, but we created a landscape of vases on either side of the room creating an intimate atmosphere.

We took inspiration from the classic interior decoration and the gold colouring associated with BAFTA. We opted for bright clashing flowers, masses of crystal vases, tall cut glass candle sticks and fine gold detailing on the glasses and charger plates.

“Our guests literally gasped when they entered the room, it was like being on a movie set! The flowers looked absolutely spectacular and created such an amazing atmosphere. Thank you so much for all your hard work.”
